Located at the intersection of postgenderism and transhumanism, Marcela’s work is a personal journey of escapism from societal, physical and mental constraints through digital re-embodiment and re-worlding.

Exploring and questioning their idea of gender, health and fitness, Marcela portrays themselves as an enhanced, self-made and evolved digital being in a therapeutic approach to reconcile both body and mind. By distancing themselves from their depression and gender dysphoria, they investigate their longing for a gender-ambiguous, yet fit and masculine appearance. In doing so, they question whether this desire is the result of genuine identification or a byproduct of internalized misogyny.
